We want everyone to have fun and also ensure the balance of the game, so we operate under a few simple rules. Most of these rules are common courtesy and/or common sense.

Allow everyone to have fun. If you think it's great fun to hunt down players and kill them, then this is not the mud for you. If what you're doing to have fun prevents someone else from having fun, we think you have the wrong definition of fun and you'll probably get in trouble.

Keep your real-world problems in the real-world.Even, if a player is a real jerk in real life and just smashed your brand-new car or whatever, that's a real world problem and needs to be dealt with there. We're sorry that you have real life hassles, but they don't belong here. As long as that player follows the rules, and hasn't been a jerk on the mud, you are in the wrong if you hassle him or her. If you need to vent your frustrations, go exercise, punch a pillow, don't log on here and make a nuisance of yourself.

Please treat your fellow humans with respect and dignity.Even though this is a fantasy realm, behind each character is a real live human being. Remember also that there are all kinds of people who play here (different cultures, sexual orientations, etc). They may have different ideas of what constitutes fun and flirting, etc. What may be a joke to one person may be harassment to someone else. Please think before you say or do something. If what you're doing annoys or offends someone, stop.If you don't stop and someone has asked you to stop, we'll jump on your case for it. This does not mean that you should come running to a wizard every time someone bugs you. We expect you to try to work things out among yourselves.

No profanity. This relates to the rule above. Profanity is offensive to most people and we will come down hard on you for using it. Although technically not profanity, anything sexist, racist, homophobic or directed at a specific person is also likely to get you into a great deal of trouble. Using symbols to replace letters in words that would otherwise be against these rules, does not make those words legal, and will be treated equally as profanity.

One character per person Although it is permissible for one person to have more than one character, you are expected to play *only* one character at a time. If you break this rule, you are likely to lose any number of characters you play. If you choose to play more than one character, you are allowed to have only one of those characters in a guild.

One person per character As an addendum to the previous rule, it is just as illegal for multiple people to play a single character as it is for a single person to play multiple characters. Each character is one person's and one person's only. Do not give out your password to friends, acquaintances, etc.Discovery of someone playing someone else's character is grounds for
removal of all characters of both people.

No cheating We are familiar with the ways you can cheat and so we'll probably catch you eventually. Cheating of any sort is guaranteed to reduce your chance of being approved for wiz from 50% to no way in hell depending on the circumstances. If we confront you about cheating and you lie, your character will be deleted. Please note that cheating also includes exploiting bugs in the game. If you find a bug, report it, and you may get a reward.

Be cautious in helping your fellow players with quests. We encourage you to help your fellow players and we like players who are kind and generous. However there's a fine line between offering clues to help a someone solve a quest and solving the quest for them. Wizards work hard to make the quests challenging, so you get to exercise your mind as well as your fingers. If you give away the answers to a quest, it defeats the purpose ofhaving a quest.

Please do not ask wizards for help other than to report a bug. To be fair to everybody and to ensure the balance of the game, wizards are not allowed to help players. Just because one thing does not work or an exit is not immediately available doesn't mean there is a bug. Sometimes you have to think hard to figure out a puzzle or a exit. On the other hand, most wizards are aware that sometimes it's not clear to a player if something is a bug or not. Use your discretion and make sure you try everything you can think of before you cry "bug!" Of course, if you get an error message, report it immediately.

Any message that is faked by wrapping a line will be serverly punished. This is a form of deception we will not tolerate.

No automated characters. Using a bot is not only unfair to other players but a form of cheating, and you will be punished accordingly when caught.

We enforce the spirit not the letter of the rules. If you're a general jerk who goes around making life hell for people, you're going to get banished even if you haven't technically broken any rules. Also remember that your actions as a player can greatly affect yourchances of becoming a wizard on this mud. Punishing rule-breakers is no fun and ruins our day, but we will punish those who break the rules. If you violate these rules, you can lose experience points, or levels, have your character deleted or in extreme cases, get your entire site banned.
