In addition to the Adventurers' Guild, the Wizards' Guild, and the Newbie Guild, LustyMud is host to an array of economic guilds. These guilds are owned and operated by players, and are involved in the processing and sales of healing drinks and foodstuffs. There are currently nine economic guilds, each of which falls into one of four guild categories. These are:

Grim as it may seem, there is healing in death. Grocers guilds process corpses to extract their residual life essences, which are then mixed with a bland, edible base to form a food additive with healing properties. They then sell different sorts of food seasoned with varying quantities of the additive to the pubs (along with coffee which is farmed independently), as well as treated malt to the breweries. The breweries feed a mash of the treated malt to yeast, which produce a raw form of alcohol permeated with soluble healing qualities. This "raw" as it is called will not only induce intoxication if consumed, but speed healing of wounds and regeneration of energy while intoxication persists. However, "raw" has no immediate healing effect, nor is it very agreeable to the palate. The distilleries thus purchase quantities of raw and distil them into drinks to be sold to the pubs. These drinks are often quite strong, and those less hardy may not be able to keep them down. Those who can consume them benefit from immediate healing as well as the healing intoxication they produce. The pub guilds are the final link of the chain. They serve the drinks, food and coffee (used for reducing intoxication once the desired level of healing has been reached) in their processed form to the players .

Some guilds choose to operate sideline retail outlets, selling products that are not directly related to the guilds' main business of moving food, coffee and alcohol. These outlets are located within their respective guilds and offer many interesting and useful items at affordable prices. Guild membership offers many benefits. To join a guild, you must have attained fifth level or higher, thus indicating that you enjoy LustyMud and plan to be around for a while. Seek out a member of a guild that interests you, and ask him or her whether they have any positions open. If they do not know, try a guild master of that guild. Note that you must be willing to contribute time and effort to the guild you join; a guild can only turn a profit (and thus pay for its benefits) through the conduct of business by its members.
